Tabungan Harapan di Usia Senja: Membekali Lansia dengan Pengetahuan Keuangan
Abstract
The elderly phase is a stage of life that is often faced with economic limitations, primarily due to decreased income and increased living expenses. Unfortunately, many elderly individuals lack adequate understanding of financial management, including the importance of saving and creating simple budgets. This community service activity aims to improve financial literacy among the elderly through practical and participatory education. The target group consists of 32 elderly individuals who are members of the healthy exercise community in Tambak Rejo Village, Gading Rejo Subdistrict, Pringsewu Regency. The methods used include interactive counseling, budget planning simulations, and light post-activity mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests to measure participants' level of understanding. The results showed significant improvement across all indicators: understanding of the importance of saving increased to 93.8%, ability to create daily budgets reached 84.4%, and awareness of financial products rose to 90.6%. All participants also stated that the activity was directly beneficial. This initiative demonstrates that financial education delivered in a simple and applicable manner can empower the elderly to be more independent in managing their finances. It is hoped that similar programs can be implemented sustainably to enhance the well-being of the elderly in their later years.
