Abstract
Hypertension is a chronic disease prevalent among the elderly and requires long-term medication adherence. This Community Service Program (KKN) aimed to improve knowledge and medication adherence among elderly hypertension patients in Dusun 4 Pekon Tegalsari. The methods included blood pressure checks, filling out pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and interactive health counseling using leaflets and a Q&A session. Consisting of 35 people with a history of hypertension and became respondents. The results showed a very significant increase in knowledge after counseling. The knowledge score for questions 1–4 increased from an average of 66.43% in the pre-test to 100% in the post-test. For adherence behavior, there was an increase from 74.29% to 97.14%. However, a gap was found between perfect knowledge and daily adherence behavior, influenced by forgetfulness and perception factors. It is concluded that counseling was effective in increasing knowledge, but more practical support interventions are needed to bridge the knowledge–behavior gap to achieve sustainable adherence.
