Abstract
Background: Postpartum depression may impair breastfeeding, yet mental health screening is rarely included in routine postnatal care. Objective: To evaluate an integrated program of postpartum depression screening, maternal mental health education, and community-based breastfeeding support. Methods: A one-group pretest–posttest study was conducted among 20 postpartum mothers at UPTD Kotabumi I Primary Health Center, Indonesia. Participants received a three-week intervention using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), LATCH Assessment Tool, and a breast milk adequacy checklist. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: Postpartum depression risk was identified in 35% of participants. After the intervention, LATCH scores and breast milk adequacy improved significantly (p<0.001) with large effect sizes, and all participants reported satisfaction. Conclusion: The integrated program effectively improved breastfeeding performance and breast milk adequacy and is feasible for implementation in comprehensive primary postnatal care.
