Breastfeeding technique is the most important factor compared to other risk factors that can increase the genesis of breast engorgement in mothers. Incorrect positioning and poor latch-on techniques can lead to this problem. According to data from the Seputih Mataram Public Health Center in 2024, there were 534 postpartum mothers in the area. There were 197 mothers (approximately 37%) who suffered breast engorgement. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method. The research design was a one-group pre–post-test design. The population consisted of all primiparous postpartum mothers in the postpartum period (0–42 days), totaling 70 individuals, with a sample of 16 selected using random sampling. The research was conducted in the Seputih Mataram area. Data were collected using observation sheets. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before the intervention, all 16 primiparous postpartum mothers (100%) suffered breast engorgement. After the intervention, only 2 mothers (12.5%) still suffered breast engorgement, while 14 mothers (87.5%) no longer experienced it. This indicates a significant effect of breastfeeding technique on the genesis of breast engorgement among primiparous postpartum mothers in the working area of Seputih Mataram Public Health Center in 2025, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < α = 0.05). It is recommended that postpartum mothers improve their knowledge and breastfeeding skills, especially regarding proper latch-on techniques to ensure complete breast emptying.
