FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KEJADIAN DIARE PADA BAYI USIA 0-12 BULAN DI UPTD PUSKESMAS KALIANDA TAHUN 2024

Abstract

Diarrhea is a leading cause of death in infants, especially in developing countries. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO, 2024), in South Lampung Regency, 546 cases of diarrhea were recorded in infants, with 75 cases (7.59%) occurring at the Kalianda Public Health Center (UPTD) in 2024. This situation indicates that diarrhea remains a health problem that requires attention, particularly regarding the factors influencing the incidence of diarrhea in infants aged 0-12 months. This research objective to determine the factors related to this matter.

The design used in this study was a cross-sectional method. The population in this study was all infants aged 0–12 months registered at the Kalianda Public Health Center totaling 130 infants, with a sample of 57 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05).

The study result obtained a p-value <0.05, namely Exclusive Breastfeeding (p = 0.024), environmental cleanliness (p = 0.016), mother's hand washing habits (p = 0.010), use of clean water (p = 0.026). This demonstrates a strong correlation between the use of clean water, environmental cleanliness, and exclusive breastfeeding. One important factor in reducing diarrhea is mothers' handwashing practices. In order to prevent diarrheal illness, clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) are strongly advised.
